Essay topics:

You have just learned that your friend has recently become engaged. Write a letter to your friend. In your letter:
• tell him/her how you found out
• explain how you feel about the news
• organise to meet your friend for a celebration

Hey Dave,
How’s it going? I feel terrible to catch up with you after such a long time! I have come to know about your engagement recently.
I recently met Steve at Dubai, while waiting for my connecting flight. He shared with me this great news of your engagement with Katie.
To be honest, I was initially quite surprised when I heard the news, but later when I came to know about the health of Katie’s father, it made sense for you both to commemorate your relationship while he is still with us. I have also shared the news with my wife Anna, she was delighted to hear your plans for marriage.
I’ll be visiting New York in May to meet my in-laws. Why don’t we plan a weekend together just like our college days and celebrate your engagement? It could also be your last party as a bachelor before you get hitched.
See you soon.
Sam
