You have some library books that you are unable to return as a member of your family in another city has fallen sick and you have had to go and look after them. Write a letter to the library.
-explaining the situation
-apologise for the inconvenience called
-and say that you are going to do
Dear Sir,
I am writing to apologize for not being able to return the library books on time as I had to rush to another city to take care of my sick grandmother. Allow me to explain the situation in detail.
To elucidate my grandmother lives alone in Bristol and from time to time I need to visit her to keep a check on her. Unfortunately, last weekend I received a call from the hospital stating that she had fallen sick due to food poisoning, therefore, hospital staff required a presence of the immediate family member to sort out some paper-work. Since my father was travelling at the same time, therefore, I needed to travel immediately to Bristol. Although I am punctual in returning the books however due to the above-mentioned reason I was unable to return the books, therefore, I would like to sincerely apologize.
Lastly, I would be returning back to my hometown tomorrow, therefore, I would be able to return the books first thing in the morning. Once again I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused.
Yours faithfully
Saad Mobarak
