you recently lost your driving licence and someone sent it back to you. Write a letter to him/her.
How important the licence is to you
Asking how he/she found it
Saying how you would love to thank him/her.
Hi Dave,
I am writing this letter to express my gratitude for returning my lost driving license.
As I live far from my workplace, I have to drive everyday. Thus, having a driving license with me is quite crucial. Without it, I have to take bus which is quite exhaustive and time consuming. To be honest, it is frustrating to wait for bus and getting late for work due to irregularities of buses. I was going to get new license but then I heard from you that you found it.
I remember that last time I saw it when i drove to mega mall in downtown. When i realized that I missed it, I tried to check at the mall. But I had no luck, If you could tell me where exactly you found it so that i will be extra cautious next time.
Nevertheless, I really appreciate that you went an extra mile to return it. And, as token of appreciation, I would like to invite you for dinner at my home. Please let me know about your availability so I can make arrangements accordingly. You can follow the address on the license to my place.
Again, thank you very much and I hope to hear from you soon.
Yours sincerely,
Sandip Ramani
