Given are two charts depicting the fluctuation in possessing electrical devices of citizens and the time spent on doing household during a 99-year period starting from 1920.
It is perceptible that both refrigerator and vacuum cleaner witnessed upward trend while washing machine saw a fluctuation in its tendency. On the other hand, with the popularity of electrical devices, people can pay less attention to housework.
Conspicuously, no one preserved their food in cold temperature in the earliest year. However, an increase in people knowledge lead to the dominance in the use of refrigerator, this device plunged to 90% in 1960,higher than any household electrical equipment that time. While washing machine witnessed a raising period, vacuum cleaner was another equipment that witnessed an exponential growth in a whole period. Possessed 30% in 1920, its tendency kept climbing up to 90% in 1980. In the latest two years, all residents were interested by refrigerator and vacuum cleaner. On the other hand, washing machine had a fluctuated trend, increased by 31% at the end of the period.
Regarding household hours, residents tended to ignore it day by day. With almost 50 hours spent on housework in a week, this number saw a remarkable drop in a 3 year-period starting form 1920. There were no changes in housework time until the latter 2000 that it reached 10 hours per week .
