Some say that it would be better if the majority of employees worked from home instead of travelling to a workplace every day.
Do you think the advantages of working from home outweigh the disadvantages?
Some people say that it is better for the bulk of workers to work from home rather than travel to the office on a daily basis. Although I can sympathize with both sides of the argument, I fundamentally believe that the merits of working from home outweighs the demerits. My reasons will be further explained in the following paragraphs.
There are several arguments in favor of employees working from home. First, this will provide work and life balance. Employees will have flexible working time. They may work during their most productive hours of the day independently and not affect anyone else. The time will be better managed consequently that workers can balance their time on work and their personal lives. They will have a chance to take care of their physical and mental health, including working out, healthy eating, stress management, and spending time with their loved ones. In addition. working from home creates a conducive working environment. Employees can enhance their technical skills while working on modern devices to adapt easily to the rapid changes of the time. Moreover, by working from home, workers will be more convenient due to the fact they do not need to travel to their workplace daily. Besides being convenient, staying at home to work can also minimize the number of private vehicles on the road, and consume less fuels and gases to reduce carbon emissions to protect the environment.
However, I also believe that there are considerable drawbacks to remote work as well. Working at home, which is our most comfortable place, may cause distraction. Workers can easily become lazy and quit their work immediately whenever they want to. Besides, it is a huge challenge to afford costly working devices that are suitable for online work. Moreover, working from home can cause a lack of communication. There will be no teamwork, peer motivation, or competitive environment, which results in social isolation. Furthermore, remote working can lead to the domination of the AI. It will gradually pervade and replace employees, causing the loss of jobs.
To conclude, I am strongly in favor of working from home for both practical and psychological reasons. Remote work will have beneficial influences on modern life.
