Both the poor and the rich find the accessibility into university difficult. Do you agree or disagree?

From the time immemorable, people across the world have given utmost importance to tertiary education and have worked hard to provide it to their children. Although, some believe that getting admissions in colleges or universities is beyond the approach of both people from high-income group and low-income group, I completely disagree with this opinion. In my essay, I will elaborate my views with appropriate examples.

Undoubtedly, pursuing higher education for poor class is very challenging, considering the extortionate amount of fees levied. But in recent years most of the universities have come up with several scholarship programs, according to which scholars belonging to poor family get huge waivers or sometimes complete waiver on their fees. Also, government has come up with certain policies, according to which, these students can avail study loans at affordable interest rates. For example, to raise the education standard of India, Indian government has reserved special scholarship grants for economically backward students, and has advised banks to offer loans at nominal interest rates. If these policies did not exist, it would have been difficult for them to access advanced studies.

Although, wealthy people have financial freedom, there are situations like poor grades, pertaining to which they cannot seek entry into post-secondary education. However, there are management-quotas in many institutes, which can give admissions to them. To illustrate, there are several colleges, which have some seats reserved for students, who can pay twice or thrice the actual fees and get access to them. As these people have enough funds at their disposal, it becomes comparatively easy to gain higher education.

In conclusion, I believe that university accessibility is affordable by both low-income earners and affluent class, as there are several schemes by the government for the poor, and because of the special seats allocated for rich students, having poor grades in school.
