News stories on TV and in newspapers are very often accompanied by pictures. some people say that these pictures are more effective than words. What is your opinion about this?
Nowadays, with the invent of technology, ways of broadcasting information through TV and Newspaper have been changed. It is believed by a section of people that pictorial approach of news is very attractive and informative than other methods. In my opinion, this method is more effective and I'll support my view and give valid arguments with examples.
To begin with, there is no denying the fact that pictures attract the attention of the audience. They also give the basic understanding about the news story to reader’s and thus help them to figure out which stories are worth mentioning their attention. In this age of information explosion, we receive the updates every second and it is juggernaut task to read or watch all of the stories that we come across. Pictures play the vital role to filter out the stories we are not interested in. To illustrate, As I am a great fan of Sachin Tendulkar, whenever I see an image on the screen or in the newspaper then it makes me more curious to read the full story. It is his photo which grabs my attention.
Furthermore, By adding more pictures to news articles, news editor attract the attention of children as well as illiterate people. Because it is difficult for this group to understand a particular topic without the presence of pictures. Special sections and supplements are published and broadcasted by the press media to attract the attention of this particular group. Moreover, It also leads to creating the various new employment opportunities in the sector of animation and graphics design.
In conclusion, I reckon that including pictures in news can play a pivotal role in gaining the reader’s attention to a particular topic. Pictures can also tell a story more vividly and make comprehension easier.
