News stories on TV and in newspapers are very often accompanied by pictures.
Some people say that these pictures are more effective than words.
What is your opinion about this?
Nowadays news stories on television and newspapers play a pivotal role in keeping public informed about the latest events happening around the globe. Although some people say that news stories in the form of pictures are more effective than words. In my opinion, pictures are a more effective way to present news stories. Hence in the below paragraphs, I will provide supporting arguments with examples to support my opinion.
First and foremost print media and TV channels tend to show the news stories with more pictures as they want to provide a quick summary of the events. The biggest reason is that it saves times for readers who do not want to read the whole story. For instance, as per the survey conducted by the national herald, it was published that around 90 per cent of newspaper readers preferred glancing through pictures rather than text as it saved time and additionally they were able to map pictures with the actual events.
Similarly pictures, on the other hand, amplify the intensity of the event and it becomes easier for readers to recollect the picture rather than words. For example, when India won the world cup in 2012 the winning moment was captured in pictures and published in a local newspaper hence it was easier for me to understand the emotion on how the players felt when they won the world cup moreover I could recollect the pictures even today in comparison to words.
To conclude pictures are a most desired way to orchestrate news which not only helps readers to save time but additionally provides a clear understanding of the events without the news being manipulated in comparison to words therefore in my opinion pictures are more effective than words.
