It is true that social media has gained immense popularity among all ages. Although sharing of personal information is a security risk for its users, I believe the merits of using social media is far greater than its de-merits. The essay will discuss them further.
On the one hand, before the rise of social media the world was connected through other mediums of communications such as phone, email, text. These mediums of communication are great, however, they lack in providing consistent updates about your near and dear ones. On the other hand, Using social media and sharing excessive personal details to public or friends is extremely dangerous. This information can be used against the user, it has become a promising tool for cyber fraud and social engineering attacks. Stalking may happen on social media platforms, we have seen some incidents where it was used as a tool to gain information to physically harm the user. Furthermore, Everyone looks hooked on social media platforms throughout the day, It has resulted in an addiction to the platform and its games.
