Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? One of the best ways that parents can help their teenage children prepare for adult life is to encourage them to take a part-time job.
Preparing teenage children for their adult life is one of the parents' goals. There have been many debates on how parents can achieve this goal. While there are some people that believe taking a part-time job is one of the best ways to prepare teenage children for their future life, others disagree. From my point of view, taking a part-time job can prepare teenagers for their adult life for three reasons.
First of all, taking a part-time job can teach them how to be a responsible person. While teenagers work, they will be given certain responsibilities which they have to do for a long period of time. If they do not work properly or at the right time, they will not be paid. Therefore, in order to be paid, they have to work hard and regularly which can help them to be a responsible person.
The second reason which supports my idea is that by taking part-time jobs they can gain experiences which can help them for their future jobs. Working can raise teenagers' experiences toward interpersonal relationships, people's characteristics, and providing employer's expectations. These kinds of experiences are essential factors, and can help a person have a better performance in a workplace.
Finally, taking a part-time job can teach them the ability to plan and organize. When a teenager has a job and also goes to school and needs to study, she or he does not have the time for doing trivial activities such as watching television or playing video games. Accordingly, they have to make plans to use their time as efficiently as they can, so that they become able to do their responsibilities on time.
To sum up, taking a part-time job is one of the best ways for teenage children to prepare for their adult life because they can learn to be a responsible person, gather experiences for their future jobs, and learn the ability to plan. For better learning, I recommend that they take a part-time job in a field that they like, so that they can gain experiences in that specific field which they might continue in the future.
