Some students prefer classes with frequent discussions between the professor and the students with almost no lectures. Other students prefer classes with many lectures and almost no discussions. Personally, I believe I prefer classes with frequent discussions between the professor and the students with almost no lectures because students can get a bigger capacity to learn about the topic learned in class therefore handle it better, and it is easier for the student to ask questions about the topic hence solve doubts that the student may have. I feel this way for two reasons, which I will explore in the following essay.
First of all, students are able to get more knowledge about the topic learned in class. This means that the student is constantly listening to the topic vocabulary what helps him/her to stay more focus during discussions and at the time to do his/her own reflexion about the topic.
My personal experience is a compelling example of this. During my senior year at high school, we started learning philosophy. The first five lessons, I was obliged to read tons of essay full of citations from different philosophers so I couldn’t fill my head with all that information. However, the very next class the teacher started to talk about all the philosophers and their ideas, something that was extremely easier to understand therefore I was able to take about my own notes about the different topics so at the same able to learn more about the philosophers.
Secondly, students that are constantly participating in a discussion, are able to ask more questions about the topic learned in class. This means that the student is evolved in the conversation and is thinking about what is talked throughout the class, and obviously the student is able to make any question he/she may have and making questions means that the student is focus on what in talked in class.
For instance, while I was in my senior year at high school, we were learning about the neural development in biology class. I was completely lost on what the teacher was talking about and on what I was ridding until the teacher asked me a question about the brain functioning and luckily I able to answer correctly so I started to talk about the topic for a long time so I was more interested about what I was talking and able to check my errors when I made them, therefore if I hadn’t have talked about the topic or when the teacher asked me to talk, I wouldn’t have learned from my errors and did
