Some students prefer classes with frequent discussions between the professor and with almost no lectures. Others students prefer classes with many lectures and almost no discussions. PREFERANCE
Everyone has their own preference for learning techniques. Some believe that interactive classes are more effective whereas some are of the opinion that theory lectures without any conversations are better. Of the given choices, if I were asked to choose, I would definitely prefer classes with discussions. I feel that way for two reasons, which I will explain in subsequent paragraphs.
To begin with, intellectual classes provide students with the opportunity to speak and represent their views on a topic. Moreover, such lectures will be less boring as there will interactions in class and the class would be lively as everyone will participate. For such discussion lectures the pupils have to explore the ideas and gain their knowledge by gathering information. This helps students to find information and present their point. Drawing from my own experience, our TOEFL teacher gives us a topic everyday and we have to go prepared next day then she discusses the topic with various activities and questions. In this way, she also completes the learning and the class is also not monotonous. If I had not attended her classes then I would still be struggling with the basics.
Secondly, the classes that involves interactions also prepares children on how to work in groups and how to present our point effectively when working in groups. It also teaches students on how to communicate with teachers,colleagues and friends. Some freshmen are very shy and speak very less when they go to college, but after interactions with professors and peers and participating in various activities they develop the skills. My personal experience is great example of this, I use to speak very less during my highschool but then in college I participated in various debates and elocution competitions which helped me to come up with my fear of speaking in front of many people. This helped me a lot in my professional life as i was able to be part of group discussions easily. If i would have never got such opportunity then I would never be able to overcome my stage fear.
In conclusion, I strongly prefer that classes including of discussions and interactions are more preferable than the passive classes with only lecturer speaking as this classes will help students to grow academically and develop the skills that are helpful in future.
