Some students prefer classes with open discussions between the professor and students and almost no lectures. Other students prefer classes with lectures and almost no discussions. Which do you prefer? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

Nowadays, we have various learning styles, and it is critically important that we look for a style that matches our academic preferences. Some people incline to a discussion-based class approach, while others disagree. In my opinion, I undoubtedly, reckon that lecture-based class is more beneficial than discussion for two reasons, which I will explore in the following essay.
First, lectures ensure that students get the essential information out of the academic subjects. On the other hand, in the discussion, only a few students lead the talk according to what they want, yet they ignore what others want. For instance, when I was a freshman, I got enrolled in a history class about ancient Egyptian civilization in a discussion class. Frankly, I did not gain the knowledge that I was supposed to get because two students kept engaged in an endless argument with the professor, which reflected negatively on my grades. When I had the same class in my sophomore, unlike the discussion class, I obtained a tremendous amount of information, and I scored high as well. If it had not for the lecture learning, I would never have achieved that progress. As you can see, lecturers do create a better learning environment.
Secondly, students in the lecture-style still can raise their hands and ask whatever questions they want. For example, last year, I took a lecture class in introductory chemistry, and we were almost 150 students, maybe more. As you can imagine, if the educator had allowed a discussion during a lecture, it would have been absolute chaos. However, my professor used to set aside some time at the end of a lesson solely for discussion. Thus, students who understood everything can take their belongings and leave quietly; other students who did understand some points can stay to get clarification from the instructor, which created a small, but useful discussion. This experience taught me that learning in the lecture style also does have room for discourse in a more organized manner than just a discussion class.
In conclusion, I believe that the lecture-class style is more advantageous than the discussion-based approach. Not only it guarantees to attain all the required knowledge out of academic subjects, but it also enables learners to discuss in a better systematic way.

Better to have 5 paragraphs with 3 arguments. And try always support/against one side but compare two sides, like this:

para 1: introduction
para 2: reason 1. address both of the views presented for reason 1
para 3: reason 2. address both of the views presented for reason 2
para 4: reason 3. address both of the views presented for reason 3
para 5: conclusion.

So how to find out those reasons. There is a formula:

reasons == advantages or

reasons == disadvantages

for example, we can always apply 'save time', 'save/make money', 'find a job', 'make friends', 'get more information' as reasons to all essay/speaking topics.

or we can apply 'waste time', 'waste money', 'no job', 'make bad friends', 'get bad information' as reasons to all essay/speaking topics.
