Air purifier

Essay topics:

Air purifier

Both the reading and the listening discuss about types of air purifiers which are the devices used to purify air and prevent air pollution. The former argues that the different types of air purifiers work effectively, however the later contends that each air purifiers has their drawbacks.

First of all, the passage asserts that HEPA filters effectively purify the allergens like dust and pollens without any secondary pollution. In contrast, the lecture refutes by proposing that HEPA can't prevent very small allergen particles less than the size of 0.3 mm such as viruses, micro-organisms. This enable the growth of the harmful micro-organisms in air leading to health problems in human.

Second of all, the reading text claims that ozone generating air purifiers are affective in removing unpleasant smell and airborne chemicals and further it produces pleasant smell. On the other hand, the listening contends that such purifiers have ozone that is dangerous to our health as it adversely react with our eyes and longs. Exposure to ozone may lead to long term health health issues in human.

Finally, the writer of the text mentions that UV air purifiers are helpful to remove bacterial pollution in the air. However, the professor in the listening rebuts that UV purifiers do not effectively clear air. According to him, the UV purifiers can not purify the cigarette smokes and other various gases, which we need most to remove in common.

In conclusion, both the passage and listening discuss over three types of air purifier, however they contradict with each other on their views.
