The reading and the lecture are both about rhinoceros horns. More specifically, the writers put forth the idea that Rhinos is exhausted to extinct because the hunters kill this animal and take their horns, so the lecturer provides three solutions for this problem. In the listening passage, the lecturer is quick to point out that there are some serious flaws in the writer's claims. In fact, the professor believes this solutions have significant weaknesses and addresses, in detail, the trouble with each point made in the reading text.
First and foremost, the author of the reading states dehorn the wildlife Rhinos by remove its horns to make these animals less attractive to the hunters. The article mentions that remove the horns from this animal using medical procedure and decent strategy will help to solve this problem. This argument is challenged by the lecturer. He claims that this solution is not practical, and if the animal can find this amount of support from helping surgery, so instead of that they can help to protect these animals. Additionally, he points out that Rhinos using there horns to protect their young and dig from water.
Secondly, the author suggests that educate the consumers of the horns about the false believe about the benefits of take keratin. In the article it is said that if people have a good knowledge about this fact they will not buy this horns. Again, the speaker specifically asserts in this idea by states this solution is not practical because people have strong believe about these advantages. He goes on to say that if consumers have a very old and strong believe, so it is not easily to convince them to change their mind.
Finally, the author brings his argument to a close by suggesting that government should make sail these horns legally, so the the price of these products will be low and this process of selling will stop. not surprisingly, the lecturer takes issue with this claim by contending that if the government allow to do this process, as a result the demand for horns will increase. He notes that the hunters will continue kill this animal because the government made a attractive market for the consumers.
