The article and lecture about genetic modified tree. The author elaborates three benefits from this process. The lecturer casts doubt on claim made in articl. She says, although there are benefits from these trees, but there are obivios disadvantages.
First, the author stats, genetically modifid trees harder and longer suvive, they are more resistant to difficalt circumferences. This point challenged by professor. She mentions, the genitic modified trees may be resist to especial climat, but when there is any change this climate like in tempreture, all these trees will destroy because they have same genes, in contrast to non modified tree which have diffirent genes, that mean one type may damage in especail climat, but other can survive.
Second, the writer says, the genetic modified tree have economic benefits to the farmer, because they grow faster, give greater amount of food , this allow farmers to get faster and greater return. The lecturer rebutes this argument. She illustrates, there is a hiden cost for these trees, the company sell their seeds in high cost, also after these trees grow, and theeir seed are collected, then can plant for free, but in the law, the farmers have to pay for these seed every time they are used.
Finally, the author mentions, the genetically modified trees can prevent overexploitation of wild trees due to their faster growing. The professor in the other hand states, these trees need especial treatments for growing faster, like more water, in addition to more nutrition soil, so these will effect other non genetic modified trees in the same geographic area.
