bee, Arizona, fossilize, actual bees fossils, flowering plant, chambers
In this set of material, both the author and the lecturer discuss the existence of bees as early as 200 million years ago. Ancient fossil structures discovered inside fossilized trees in the state of Arizona support this hypothesis. While the author of the reading passage declares that such a theory cannot be possible, the professor explains how they are reasonable, and the author's claims do not convince her. In what follows, the reasons of the author and the professor will be discussed.
Firstly, the reading asserts that scientists have not found actual bees fossils as early as 200 million years ago. On the other hand, the professor believes they cannot be preserved.
Secondly, according to the passage, it is said that there was no flowering plant in that era. In contrast, the lecturer says it was possible for bees to live without flowering plants, and they probably feed on other trees such as non-pine trees. They could adapt themselves feeding on them.
Finally, the author of the reading proclaims that the nest chambers are approximately similar to fossilized structures found in Arizona. However, the professor explains that some of the chambers nest have chemical substances that it can distinguish them with bees.
In conclusion, the professor disagrees with claims of the author.
