First, the reading provides an example which is against the Chevalier's claims about his wealthy life in Switzerland. The professor refutes this point by saying that Chevalier was prosperous in Switzerland and spend most of his money on party and gambling. She also mentions that converting his asserts to money took times and because of this Chevalier had to get loan from merchants.
Second, the author of the reading notes that there are a several questions and doubts about the accuracy of Chevalier conversations with the well-known writer Voltaire which was recorded. The professor mentions that record is accurate and valid because at that time Chevalier used to note his talks with Voltaire at each night after the talking. The professor states that after some years Chevalier refers to his notes in order to record the conversations.
Third, the article claims that there are several questions about the Chevalier's escape of a secure prison in Venice. The professor, on the other hand, disagrees with this idea by providing some facts. Therefore, the professor rejects the idea of offering bribe by Chevalier. She puts forth the idea that there are evidences which show the prison had repaired after the Chevalier's escape.
