Did bees a type of insect exist on Earth as early as 200 million years ago? Such a theory is supported by the discovery of very old fossil structures that resemble bee nests. The structures have been found inside 200-million-year-old fossilized trees in the state of Arizona in the southwestern United States. However, many skeptics doubt that the structures were created by bees. The skeptics support their view with several arguments.

The passasge and the lecture both talk about the possibility that the old fossil structures really resemble the bee nests. The author in the passage claimed that it is created by bees, while the professor takes opposite opinion and states it is possible made by bees.
Firstly, the passage puts the fact that no fossil remains of the actual bees have been found with 200 million years ago but only in the recent 100 million years, not to mention the bee' nests in such long period. However, the professor does not think so and explains it may be the rare trees that make the bee fossils hard to be preserved. He explains it is almost to preserve the bee in so much time, only when the bees were buried by the special liquid by the trees. But dating back to the period of 200 million years ago, rare trees appeared at that time.
Besides, other arguments hold the opinion that no flowers mean no fees because of the close relationship between them. On the contrary, the professor does not think so. He put a possibility that the bees may feed on the other plants before the flowers rased. And it is the adaptation of the bees that fed on the flowers as the result of the nutrition or something else.
Finally, the passage doubts that there are no fine details of the bees' nests, such as the caps. While the lecture does not take it as solid evidence. He states that the chemical components of the fossilized chambers are similar to those of the modern bee nests, which really reflects the truth of the possibility.
