Discusion about validity of Electronic Medical System
Reading ad article talks about advantages of electronic medical system over paper base system. Reading suggests that it is really great idea to replace old methods of preserving medical data. While, lecture claims that electronic medical system benefits are unpredictable. Lecture explores her view by giving reasons.
First, reading states that new modern electronic data system will cut down expense and diminish space for storing patient's data. He also argues medical records can be accessed from any part of the world by the agencies involved in patient's treatment. Lecture casts doubt made on this point made in article. She says that even if with electronic system installed, most doctors use papers to write down prescription and still need to keep signed original documents. She further asserts that new system is not creating any effect of the budget of medical records.
Second, reading claims that chances of blunder are going to diminished by standard digital data.He also points that vague handwriting and non-uniform methods of documentation probably interpret information in incorrect manner and may lead to jeopardise patient's health.
On contrary, lecture refutes this agreement made in reading. She says new electronic system is not preventing this error, as health care workers convert hand written information into digital form. As a result, this system may fail to provide good quality treatment to patients.
Third, author mention that accessible electronic system can make it very easy for the scientist and researchers to gather medical records. He points out that process of obtaining data physically from all agencies involved is very troublesome. Lecture casts doubt on this statement. She thinks that acquiring data from lector system requires permission from doctors and patients, as medical laws are very rigid. In addition, she says that some times patients are not eager to give access to use their medical records. As a consequence, professor successfully casts doubt on methods present in reading.
