The article and lecture discussed the emperor Claudius of Rome. The reading suggested positive sides of the Claudius and gave a few instances to support the claims. However, the lecturer, on the other hand, depicted the negative side of the Claudius by challenging the article's claim with supporting details.
firstly, The reading asserted that Claudius was an innovative leader as he took over the island of Britain and combined them, he built several other projects to assist his empire. however, the lecturer agrees with the statement but also he contributed negatively to society by paying the army, which was dangerous.
Secondly, the article posits that he conquered the island of Britain and merged them for Rome, but the lecturer averted that Claudis liked destruction and violence as he conquered the islands of Britain just to destroy the inhabitants and for his amusements.
Finally, the article suggested that he made rights for slaves and included them in a bureaucratic framework where slaves worked efficiently for all future emperor including his wives. But the author challenged the article's claims by stating about
his selected people(slaves) that they were corrupt and has been involved in taking money from people. Moreover, the lecturer mentioned about the wife of Claudius that one of them was a muderer and the last wife poisoned him and also his son, which became the emperor later was one of the worst ruler of the rome.
In conclusion, the article made a certain claims about Claudius and depicted him as a great emperor but the lecture has challenged those claims effectively.
