groupthinking, summarize and cast doubts
the reading passage and the audio is both about the groupthinking and its results.the reading passage however contradicts the audio.
the advantages of teams composed of many individuals over individuals working alone are several. firstly teams of individuals can pool their intellectual resources in order to arrive at a superior decisions through focused attention to issue at hand. on the other hand groupthinking is a disastaress disease. the decision at which an individual arrives based on the teams thoughts is very rational. for every decisions it requires the confirmation of the team and sometimes the outcome is unsatisfying. moreover the individuals that raise objectives against the decission is usually ignored.
furthermore group discussion leads to a broad exchange of knowldge and information since the team includes individuals from different levels of organization. also these individuals bring variety of skills, intrest and background knowldge. although the speaker beleives that it makes an individual vulnerable. for every decission to be made the pressure of confirmation arises. for instance an automobile company in the 1950's called ford went bankrupt after launching a new model of car based on their group decission. but the public didn't seem to like it which resulted in bankruptacy.
additionally, group discussion has the advantage of encouraging motivation in team members. the effect of working together can increase enthusisam and provide necessary ambience for brainstorming activities for good decision making. perhaps the lecturer in audio mentions the cons that groupthinking leads to making an irrational, unsatisfactory outcome which makes an individual more vulnerable.
