hydrogen

Essay topics:

hydrogen

The article states that hydrogen-based car engines are a good replacement for petroleum-based engines and provides 3 reasons to support. But, the lecturer challenges these statements made by the author. She is of the opinion that none of these reasons is correct.

First of all, the author suggests that hydrogen does not generate from a finite resource whereas the internal-combustion engines use gasoline and diesel that are from a limited resource. This argument is challenged by the lecturer. He says that to use hydrogen in engines, it should be derived from its sources like water and gas and then turn in to a pure liquid. With regard to this, it does not produce easily.

Secondly, the writer contends that the fuel-cell engines have high efficiency associated with pollution in comparison with the petroleum-based engines so that it can be a solution for the pollution problem. The lecturer, however, rebuts this by asserting that although this fuel can create less pollution, the producing process of hydrogen from its resources is highly polluter.

Finally, it is stated in the article that by using hydrogen as a fuel, the cost of operating the cars will decrease due to the high efficiency of the hydrogen-based engines. The lecturer, on the other hand, posits this by mentioning that manufacture for generating these engines use platinum. This component is expensive and scarce. Hence the price of a car will increase.
