If you want to choose to travel to one of two places that you have in mind, which of the following two ways do you prefer?
-Finding information online about the two places
-Asking friends who have been to the two places
There are times when it really gets hard to choose one place to travel, especially when one has some limitations in time and budget. To make the most of vacations, many would rather refer to their friends, who have travel experiences of those places. However, others prefer to obtain their required information from the net. I personally subscribe to the view that the internet is more suitable in such circumstances. I hold this opinion for two main reasons, which I will explore in the following essay.
To begin with, the internet provides people with a wide range of information, which gives them the sight they require to make a well- informed decision. There are some websites on the net, which have built platforms for people to share their stories, photos, videos of places they have been to. People can also write about their experiences and then rate places by some points. For instance, some websites like tripadvisor.com, virtualtourist.com, which are pretty organized and have an easy interface that everyone can easily find any required information about any place. Accordingly, we can benefit from experiences of hundreds of million people by a quick look at the scores or read some short summaries instead of asking friends, which will give us a limit sight of the travel destinations since they might not have considered some aspects.
Secondly, the net oftentimes offers updated information with the most recent changes, while our friends might not have been to those places recently. For instance, the climate change or weather conditions, changing the visa policies for some places, to name but a handful. For instance, a couple of months ago, my parents decided to go to Turkey for holiday. The travel agent booked an expensive hotel in the downtown of Istanbul, and everything seemed okay. However, with a quick brows on the internet, according to one’s experience, we found out that despite the high quality of the service, there was a construction site near the hotel that produce so many noises. Fortunately, at that time we were able to cancel the room with the full refund, which would never have happened, if we had not searched for it on the internet.
To put it in a nutshell, considering the aforementioned points, I firmly believe that online searching about the travel destinations is more beneficial since not only does the net offer a wide range of information about the places through some websites, but it also informs people about the latest changes that have occurred recently.
