painting of Jane Austen
The article discusses the painting of one of the most famous English novalist, Jane Austen. More specifically, in regards to the passage, writer thinks that recently founded and, professionally painted portrait of a teenage girl is of Jane Austen. In listening passage, the lecturer points out that the claim made in reading are not true and the evidence does not convince that the painting is of Jane Austen and this claim is questionable.
First and foremost, the write made claim that the later founded painting was endorsed by her family to use for her written letter to publish. Because for more then a centure, her family is endorsing the portrait, it belongs to Jane Austen. The lecturer, however disagrees and firmly state that wehn her family gave permission to use portrait, Jane Austen was already for 70 years. So in reality, her family has never seen her and thus it does not prove the theory that the painting of teenage girl is of Jane Austen.
The passage also state that the face and other features of teenage girl resembles to the painting of cassandra, her sister who drew her adult sister. It further claims that thiugh there are difference in age of Jane Austen in both the paintings, the facial similarity depicys that the teenage girl is Jane Austan. Of course, though, the lecturer does not believe to this and explain that because here family is large, there is possibility that the teenage girl in the painting may refers to one of her cousin. Even expert believe that it was her distant niece.
Finally, the writer states that the painting style match to Ozias Humphery, who was active in the period, when Jane Austen was a teenage girl which further. The professor whereas rebuts this argument. According to him, although the painting style refers to Ozias, it was actually drawn by a London painter called William, who start selling his painting when Jane was 27 years old. So the girl in the painting can not Jane Austen.
To sum up, both the writer and lecturer have very different opinion about the recently found painting.
