The reading selection and the professor discussed peer-to-peer sharing and it’s consequences. While the reading argues that this activity should be allowed, the lecturer disagrees with this perspective showing how this activity affects us. Both reading and listening show these three main points: Music sales, legal or ilegal and artists consequences.

According to the passage, studies show that peer-to-peer downloading hasn’t negatively affect music sales, instead it has improved. However, the lecturer argues that music industry has suffered as a result of the decrease on CD sales and illegal music download.

The reading mentions that thanks to the “fair use” clause in the legislation, file shearing shouldn’t be considered a violation. Nevertheless, the lecture shows that music piracy is a form of steeling that shouldn’t the be allowed because of its unregulated distribution.

As the text states, file sharing benefit artists who’s renege of explore increases, expanding their data base. On the other hand, the listening believes much artists are not receiving the credit they deserve for their work.

Generally speaking, although the reading and the lecture are both about peer-to-peer software and it’s benefits and disadvantages, the three main points in the passage are challenged by the lecturer by supporting her point of view with various studies.
