First, the author stats, the using of ethanol dose not solve global warming which is the biggest problem caused by gasoline, due to the release of carbon dioxide after gasoline burned. This point challenges by professor. He suggests, ethanol is made from corn, therfore we need to increase planting of corn, so these plants need carbon dioxid for their photosynthesis to make their food, this process lead to decrease amount of this gas in the atmospher.
Second, the author says production of ethanol from corn cause dramaticaly reduce of these plants which are used to feed animals like cows and chicken. The lecturer rebuts thie argument. He elaborate, ethanol formed from cellelose which is a part of cell memberane of plant wich does not eaten by animals, in this way we can used the cellilose of corn after the animals eat corn and leave celellose part.
Finally, the author informs, ethanol dose not able to compete with gasoline on prices, they are the same because of help in the tax subsidies given toethanol producers by united states government. In the other hand, the professor claims, the help which the government give to the producers of ethanol lead to decrease of it"s cost and elevate the percentage of purchusing, furthermore these encourage producers to mahe a lot of amount of ethanol, and decrease it"s cost.
