The reading passage states that many frog species around the world have declined in numbers due to changes in their environment and the writer provided some solution for this problem. However, the professor in the lecture casts doubt on the points made in the reading.
First, considering the article frogs are being harmed by pesticides which are used by farmers and if laws prohibited them from using pesticides it would reduce the harm to frogs. In contrast, the professor in the lecture contradicts the idea and further explains that this idea is not fair from the economic aspect. If the farmers hinder using pesticides, their harvest losses its quality, and farmers near these areas can not compete with other farmers.
Second, the reading passage claims that one major factor in the frog population decline is a fungus that has spread with deadly effect on them. Admittedly, the professor in the lecture validates the information and makes the points that this approach for protection frogs population is so costly and need to capture and treat every frog individually.
Third, the reading passage puts forward the idea that frog populations are decline because their natural habitats are threatened by human activities. In the same way, the speaker justifies the idea and adds that the biggest threat is global warming, and this phenomenon changes frogs environment.
To sum up, both the writer and lecturer hold conflicting views about the protection of frogs population.
