Solar Energy
The lecture adds upon the benefits already stated in the passage. Professor also concerns himself with the multi-faceted use of solar energy, while having a critical take on whether offset production of solar energy is worth considering it as an alternative to non-renewable energy sources.
Firstly, the passage states that solar energy provides a viable alternative to fossil fuel, and while the professor does not contradict the statement, he does point to the reality, that is solar cells are produced with the non- renewable energies. However, the professor does point out that the energy used to produce solar cell is recovered thanks to the life span of solar cell. Thus energy produced over the course of its lifetime is greater than the non-renewable energy used to produce it.
Secondly, the lecturer points to the mutiple uses of solar energy which results in energy optimization. While byproducts of fossil fuels can be harmful to the environment, the byproducts of solar energy can be further used. For example, the heat from the sun can be used as a heater for domestic use.
And lastly, the lecturer looks at the financial benefits of using solar energy. Solar can be used for a variety of purposes leading to a reduced cost. The passage does point to its one-time installation thus meaning that it will not gain additional expenses with time, while at the same time the tax incentives provided by the governments ensure that investing in solar energy would be a frugal venture.
