Students can benefit just as much from extracurricular activities as they can from attending classes.
Some people may contend that having classes is main resource of requiring knowledge, while students will not acquire much in extra curriculums. However, I hold the opposite view that benefits from extra curriculums is equal to formal classes, if students can immerse themselves into them.
Admittedly, some voices rise that the sterling studying atmosphere provided by college classes is indispensable, where each student would be more able to be preoccupied with teachers. Without smartphones, computers and other attractions, students' attention is on the textbook. Also, with numerous sponsorships, it is no doubt that colleges are equipped with the most experienced teachers and advanced implements that facilitates students' learning. It is true that students do receive a unique situation when attending classes. However, in my opinion, there are something essential that they would not attain in the formal classes.
In great contrast, having extra curriculums has a certain benefit for students’ development. It is generally acknowledged that the ability of dealing with interpersonal relationship is so significant that each company are inclined to those employees with outstanding personal charm. In the extra activities, students would get a chance to meet with other ones with different backgrounds. In daily communication, they would make friends with divergent people, which assuredly helps them to be socially adept. For an example, when I stepped into university, I participated in English corner in my university, where many students would exercise their English skills. People there were quite friendly, because we all had same hobby. Gradually, I became familiar with a bunch of diverse people. Whenever we got together, we would have constant discussions about our daily life, hobbies and ambitions. During that time, I got a chance to build interpersonal relationship successfully.
More importantly, another benefit is that attending activities is an excellent way for students to figure their interests which would help them to make some significant determination. In those activities, students would be able to have different experiences they never had before, from which they might find out their truly love in their life. Get back to the example stated above. To be honest, English was nightmare for me in junior high school, for its complicate grammar and thousands of vocabularies. However, after I took part in the English corner in university, I get attracted to English itself. I found it excited to communicate with others in a different language, which brings me not only interests but confidence of speaking and using it. As a result, I determined studying abroad in postgraduate program. In such case, had not I attended extra activities, I would not be able to have such ambition today.
In a nutshell, I still remain that sometimes it is likely that students can achieve and acquire more in activities.
