summarise the points
The reading asserts that the cause of extinction of a lot of marine mammals is the Steller's sea cow that once live in the waters around Bering Island off the coast of Siberia. the lecturer, however, finds the idea dubious and casts doubt on the reasons that proposed by the reading passage.
First, the author asserts that see cows were overhunted by group of native Siberian group. conversely, the lecturer brings up the idea that the mass of them was bigger than the need of people who lived there. the food that they could gain from the see cows with 9 meter longs and 10 tones weight, was enough for the long period. So, they could not need them on the way that affect their population by the overhunting.
Second, the reading passage hold the view that see cow population may have become extinct by ecosystems disturbances. On the contrary, the professor underlines the fact that other things must be affected their population before 1768. For example, the food of marine animal such as whale was kelp that was the same food source of see cows. There was not any information and observation about the lack of whale because of their food shortage. So, the kale could not be the reason.
Finally, the reading claims that European fur traders were another main cause. In contrast, the speaking dismisses this issue due the fact that when the European arrived there, see cows have been decreased a long time before that time. So, some else reasons were affected them.
