summarize the points made in the lecture about bees' fossils and their existence time, Being sure to explain how they cast doubt on the specific points made in the reading about fossils of bees found.
The reading discusses about the doubts concerning bees’ existance in wildlife of 200 million years ago. However, the professor in the lecture believes that bees could perfectly be existed 200 million years ago. She opposes with the reading's standpoint and gives three reasons to refute each of the explanations proposed in the passage respectively.
First, the article argues that no significant fossils of actual bees have been ever discovered that could be attributed to 200 million years ago. But, the professor disagrees with this view and reminds that fossil of bees are so hard to be preserved, since they should be kept inside an especial resin which is only produced by one kind of tree that predicted to be rarely found during those years. Therefore, it would be normal to find so much little remaining of bee fossils today.
Second, the passage states that bees could not be lived 200 million years ago, because there were not any flowering plants present in that period which bees could possibly feed on them. In contrary, professor illustrates that although bees are known to use flowering plants as a food source today, they may fed on non-flowering plants like pines during that period of time. They might be evolved and adapted to flowering plants after their apearance in later times.
Third, the reading explains that most of the excavated fossils of bees in Arizona region represent only general aspects of bees and lacks the details which can strongly help scientists in determining the exact time of the fossils. On the other hand, she thinks that there plenty of chemical evidence used for water proofing by bees that support bees existence during 200 million years ago, since same kind of chemical substance was found in other fossils analyzed.
