The article discusses about the fire policy. It mentioned three reseons to show how this policy influenced the environment after a fire. The passage gave three reasons to question the effectiveness of so-called let it burn policy.
First, the man in the reading thinks that this action resulted in destruction of green environment with letting it totally burn out. However, the woman in the lecture completely disagrees with this belief. She feels that after the burning new plants and species have had the chance to growth and thrive while, normally, they had not the opportunity before.
Second, the article believes that the fire had a huge impact on wildlife as it ruined most of the animals’ habitats forever. But, the women states that the place have recovered itself after the fire incident. Also, the population of animals continue to grow incresingly forward. In addition, in the forest by this destruction, the environment have become convenient for some other animals like rabbits and hares to thrive in this area gradually.
Third, the passage indicates that this event caused the tourists to choose other places to visit and this subsequently damaged the economy of the region. on the other hand, in the lecture the expert illustrates that beside the fire, there were other factors like low rain fall and harsh speedy winds which helped to the 1988 fire issue accordingly. Moreover, she thinks that this was a one-time disaster which is never going to happen again and the visitors would definately come back to see the place. As, it gained its old beautiful landscape.
