teamwork
The article and the lecture focus on teamwork as a means to complete projects. The author provides several statements that show the beneficial effect of such a labor organization approach. The lecturer, however, challenges the claims made in the article and points out the negative aspects of teamwork.
The author begins by stating that the advantage of teamwork is access to all team members' knowledge and skills. And as a result, it allows to analyze projects from different perspectives. The lecturer provides counterarguments by mentioning that there could be team members who would stop the productive discussion and impede others to follow their opinion. Thus, not an optimal decision could be made.
Secondly, it is stated in the article that teamwork can facilitate the project, so the tasks will be done quicker. Moreover, the team can come up with creative solutions to issue. The lecturer rebuts this statement. He mentions that in a team inordinate amount of time could be spent just discussing the problem and coming to an agreement.
Finally, another advantage of teamwork is that the team members could get a significant reward. This is because the impact of a project is greater than that of individual work. The lecturer opposes this specific statement. He provides examples in which not all team members contributed equally but all received an equal reward. This imbalance is considered by the lecturer evident disadvantage of teamwork.
