The listening passage demonstrates things that are actually in quite contrast to the views presented in the reading passage about Altruistic behaviours in some animals like meerkat and humans.
Firstly, the meerkat which acts as a sentinel for the group, has actually eaten even before it starts its guarding duty and is on full stomach while guarding, hence it is not actually sacrificing any of its food by guarding. This finding is entirely opposite to the one that is discussed in the reading stating about the altruistic behaviour of sentinel meerkat.
Secondly, it is even found that the sentinel meerkat stands near a borrow while guarding, to which it can quickly escape when a predator approaches it. Also, the alarm cry which it makes as a sign of the predator approach actually makes the meerkats in the group move towards one another and to all directions creating a slight chaos which actually makes it easy for the predator to attack the group rather than the sentinel which is alone and puts the group in higher risk than the sentinel. This observation opposes the view mentioned in the reading passage about the altruistic perspective of the sentinel protecting the group at the expense of it facing higher risk from the predator.
Finally, humans who donate organs to family members and strangers do not actually go without any reward but get lot of appreciation, social approval which brings about a feeling of self-worth. In this way, this act of organ donation which is discussed a self-less altruistic act which bears no benefit to the donor is completely reward less after all for the people who value non-materialistic things like appreciation and approval.
