TPO-07 - Integrated Writing Task
The passage highlights that wood companies in United states will not go for ecocertification for several reasons. However, the professor casts doubt on what is presented in the text and refuses every of the reason given in the reading. He does not think American wood companies would deny for eco certification.
First of all, the professor states that consumers do not read all advertisements and they always show their trustworthiness for the claims by independent consumer agencies. Consumers will react favorably if the companies choose to go for ecocertification. This refutes the passage claim that the American consumers would not consider the ecocertification before their purchase.
Secondly, the professor contends that everyone prefer to go for things which are lower in price. Additionally, a study in the united states shows that customers does not rely on price alone. If the product price which they want to purchase is not much higher than another product, they will purchase the product they want. The consumers also consider five percent of the factors other than price and not always go for value protecting environment.
Finally, the professor claims that the companies will get the certification not because they want to sell product in foreign market but bacause of foriegn competition. American companies will show less progress if other companies crowding the American market. This is not in agreement with the passage that the companies will not go for certification as they don not want to sell their products internationally.
