The reading and lecture both discuss the communal online encycopedias and traditional pronted encyclopedias. While the reading states three disadvatages of online encyclopedias, the professor refutes, says, none of these claims are conviencing.
Fisrt of all, the reading states that there are errors at online encyclopedia and they are inaccuate. But, the traditional printed encyclopedia are written by professional writers. However, the professor argues this point by saying that online materials are not perfect, but traditional encyclopedia are not close to be perfect. Moreover, the errors at online encyclopeia are easy to be deleted or corrected. However, the errors at printed version would stay for decaies.
In addition, the reading claims that there are many hackers can add or delete much information from the online encyclopedia. So, the online articles are not accurate. On the other hand, the professor rejects this point saying that the online encycopedia are protected from hacker. This is because these version wrote by format that no one cannot make any changes. So, these materials are very reliable. Also, he states that there are many editors who monitor these online sites and they can eliminate any changes.
Finally, the article states that the online encyclopedia misleads the readers to judge which article are important and which one are not, while the traditional one are very specific. Nevertheless, the professor question this notion by pointing out that traditional encyclopedia has very limited space. So, they always decide what is important and what not. But, the academic diversity cannot affect them. In addition, acadamic diverisity is considered strongest advantage. This diversity could not be availabe in traditional encyclopedias.
