The both the reading passage and the lecture are about eco certificaiton. The writer states that, there some wood companies around the world nicely have adopted the new practices to get this certificate, on the other hand, wood business companies from the USA will not do the same and provides three reasons for support. However, the professor states that there are good reasons to eventually USA wood companies eventually need eco certification for their product. and refutes each of the authors reasons.
First, the author states that American people are not trust to the commercials, so eco certification will not bring any value to the company. The professor refutes this point. He states American people not treat same to all advertisement. American consumers have great confidence to independent consumer agencies. If the advertisement come from these agencies, their trust will increase.
Second, the reading passage claims wood with eco certificate will be more costly than uncertifacated wood. On the other hand, the professor states of course consumer will pay attention to price of a wood. Nevertheless, some studies show that, consumer pay attention to price difference. Thanks to the low price difference between certificated woods and uncertifecated woods, the consumer tend to choose certificated woods.
Third, the argument which American companies will implement the developments in around the world not convincing. The professor casts doubt onto this claim by stating American wood companies pay attention to the competition. If American wood companies will not get certificate, wood companies from USA will loose customers to the abroad companies.
