TPO 13 Integrated Writing
In this set of materials the article posits that developing of fossils trading among private owner ships is critical event that suffers scientists and the general public. In this regard it provides three reason of support. Conversely, the lecturer raise question on the ideas and presents some evidence to refute them all.
First of all, the author of the reading passage states that these private owners wouldn't let the public to see the fossils, which leads to difficult situation for people to observe these fossils. On the contrast, the professor refutes this point by saying that any school and university can buy these fossils and this way more fossils will be available to public. She mentioned that although private buying the fossils has some negative points, its advantages outweigh the disadvantages.
The next explanation that uttered in the article is that scientists will lose a great source for their investigations if they can't have access to these fossils. In the contrast, the lecturer explains that scientists will not lose anything about these fossils, not even one of them. According to the professor only scientists can identify the fossils and private owners must ask them to recognize these materials for them. So, they can have access to all the fossils which private collectors would buy.
The last reason that mentioned in the article is that many fossils and other evidence with them will be destroyed due to basic knowledge of the commercial fossil collectors about fossil unearthing. However, the speaker states that even though this process will damage some fossils, more fossils and evidence can be found by collectors. The professor claims that it is not necessary to unearth all the fossils.
