The reading states that the huge increased population of cane toad threatens small native animals of Australia and proposes several measures to stop this catastrophic. On the other hand, the professor completely disagrees with author's solutions and says that these solutions not only are unsuccessful, but also harm environment.
To begin with, the reading comes up with the idea building a national fence to prevent spread of the toads. The reading refers to the time that national fence prevented the spread of rabbits in the early part of the twentieth. However, the professor refutes that by mentions rivers carrying young toads and their eggs beyond fences.
In addition, the reading says that the toads could be captured and destroyed by volunteers. Author suggests that government should organize a campaign to overcome this situation. But, the professor says that amateur volunteers who are not trained, may kill some frog species and harm echo system.
Last but not least, the reading states that by spreading special kind of virus which only effect cane toads, they can overcome this catastrophic. On the other hand, the professor immediately refutes this solution by saying that how badly this idea could affect environment. she says that this virus can effect original habitants, such as reptiles which are transformed to America by pet collectors, as a consequence, American echo system may be effected.

thank you for your evaluation
thank you for your evaluation , I have some questions.
"this virus can effect original habitants " what is wrong with this?
"rivers carrying young toads and their eggs beyond fences." In this sentence I meant "rivers which are carying young toads and..." , isn't it correct if I eliminate "which are" in a sentences?
1. 'effect' means 'a change
1. 'effect' means 'a change that is a result or consequence of an action or other cause.'. it is a noun. so:
this virus can affect original habitants
2. yes, you can do that. but look at the whole sentence:
the professor refutes that by mentions rivers carrying young toads and their eggs beyond fences.
'by mentions' here is not for verbs. So we are expecting a verb after 'rivers'
