The reading and the lecture are both about The Torreya tree, Which will soon become extinct. The author of the reading believes that this three ways could help the Torreya from declining. The lecturer casts doubt on the author claims made in the article. She thinks that this three ways are not satisfactory to save the Torreya.
First of all, The author of the reading claims that reestablish Torreya in the same location that are convenient for this tree. He believes that it will helps the tree to grow in the microclimate and this climate is wetter and cooler than the surrounding region. This point is challenged by the lecture. She points out that in case of global warming this microclimate is drying day by day. Furthermore she points out that once the florida climate was wetland that is now dry so thats not work.
Secondly, The author states that assistant migration will help to save this Torreya. He argues that when the tree relocate far and different location that this seed have been more successfully planted and grow. This argument is rebutted by the lecturer. She suggests that this far and different relocate can kill the other species plants. She eleborates this idea that when the tree can move another place this place may be occure other plants extinction.
Finally, The author says that preserve in the research center to save the torreya could be useful and this monitoring. The lecturer, on the other hand, feels that research center have not enough space or capabilitry to preserve. And also claims that severals disease can not resist by the research center.
