Population of Torreya taxifoha is declining in the state of Florida and no one knows the cause of the decline. Some effective measures can be implemented to maintain the sustainability of the trees. Paragraph states three major suggestions to save Torreya taxifoha. Where as lecture casts doubt on the suggestions discussed in the reading.
Firstly, paragraph states the procedure of reestablishment of the trees in the micro climates which is small area with wet and cool weather. Contrary to this opinion, lecturer says that this suggestion is unlikely to be successful because weather condition of micro climates will affect due to larger region. Condition will not be cool and wet because of global warming as well as wet lands have been drained leads to dry region. This condition will not be favorable for the Torreya to flourish in the micro climates.
Secondly, reading mentions about assisted migration which depicts to plants seeds and sapling in the area far from the micro climates. This migration will help in growing of the trees from the human help. Where as, lecture casts doubt on this suggestion and states that human have black locus tree at far location. These trees spread so quickly and widely that kills other small plants. It is very difficult for Torreya to flourish along with these trees.
Thirdly, paragraph provides a suggestion to preserve Torreya trees in the research. Seeps and sapling have been monitored carefully in the research area under the supervision of scientists. While lecture rejects this opinion and states that population of the trees will not survive due to the diseases. Research can not withhold large number of trees and it is difficult to monitor number of trees.
