The reading and lecture are about possibility of the electric battery's presence before approximately two thousand years ago. The reading states that these vessels found can not be battery. Lecturer challenges the claims made by the writer. She is of the opinion that these explanations are faulty.
To begin with, the author argues that there was no conductors near to the site, so absence of conducting wires which corresponds with battery refutes idea that vessels are battery. This specific argument is challenged by the lecturer. She stated that those vessels were found by indigenous people but professional scholars. Moreover, she noted that these local people may not recognized wires and throw it away because they did not know it is valuable evidence.
Secondly, reading claimed that these stuffs probably was being used for purpose of scrolls since its shape is analogous to the shape of holding scrolls. However, the lecturer refutes this idea by mentioning inventors started using iron rods for scrolls after the time to which vessels relate. Additionally, she claimed that scrolls was not being used for only single purpose, so people might used it for battery after utilizing for scrolls.
Finally, reading remarks that archaic people does not need electric current since they do not have any device for which individuals employ battery. Nonetheless, the woman in the listening stated that it provided people to make mild electric shock, hence they deceive people by imitating as magician. In addition, doctors perhaps was using this to treat people as how it is used nowadays.
