The main idea of both the reading passage and the lecture is about the migration hypothesis of edmontosaurs. The reading passage provides three reasons. On the other hand, the professor rejects whatever mentioned in the passage.
First, the reading passage talks about the lack of food for edmontosaurs. Nevertheless, the professor refutes this point and states that the climate was wormer in the past and they had not to migrate. The professor adds that due to the wormer climate during the summer, ample amount of plants grew during a long day and enough dead plants were exist during the winter for edmontosaurs.
Second, the reading passage discusses the living of edmontosaurs in herds. On the other hand, the professor rejects this point and states that other reasons might lead animals to live in herds. The professor adds that one of the reasons for living in herds was to protect themselves to being hunted.
Eventually, the reading passage discusses the physically ability of edmontosaurs to migrate. But, the professor is against this point and states that non-adult edmontosaurs could not migrate for long distances. Thus, the herds could not make it.
All in all, the reading passage provides three reasons about the migration hypothesis of edmontosaurs. On the other hand, the professor thinks that none of these is reasonable.
