One of the threats to endangered sea turtle species is the use of nets by commercial shrimp-fishing boats. When turtles get accidentally caught in the nets, they cannot rise to the surface of the ocean to breathe, and they die. Some people suggest that this problem can be solved through an invention called a turtle excluder device (TED) that is incorporated into the nets. A TED provides a passage through which the turtles can escape. However, TEDs have been criticized for several reasons.
The article and the reading are both about possibility of existence of bees 200 million years ago. The author starts the passage by asking a question. The article mentions that there are some skeptics which claim that there weren't any bees 200 million years ago. Although, the speaker states some extinct reasons which support the claim pointing out that bees exist that time.
First of all, the author says that earlier fossils preserving bees that date to 100 million years ago so the fossils, which are resemble bee nests found in United State, can't belong to this group of insects. The lecturer agrees that with the first part of claim asserting by the author. she opposes other parts of the claim, though. she states that because there was rarly trees which fossils could preserve there, no bees fossil generated.
Furthermore, the speaker believes that it is possible that bees have fed nonflowering plants until flowering plants evolutionary, and that's how the lecturer contradicts the second argument mentioned by the author.
Finally, according to the lecture, there are some chemical evidence which support the speaker. she points out an chamical analysis which illustrates that there are some material in the fossil structure which are in chambers of modern bee nets, therefore it enhances the possibility of existence of bees 200 million years ago.
