The reading is about possibility of permanent presence of human on Venus. It states that extreme conditions on Venus make there impossible for human habitation and provided three reasons of support. Conversely, in the lecture, the professor holds a totally different view that beside all the challenges, living on Venus is possible and points to inaccuracies in each of author's reasons.
First of all, the article claims that atmospheric pressure at Venus surface is much greater than earth. The professor refutes this point by saying also the pressure is high on the surface, above 50 kilometers over surface the pressure is much lower, so there could be a station. This floating station located in a space where the pressure is similar to the earth. As a result, the station won't crush.
Furthermore, the reading posits that there is lack of essential resource for human being life such as water and oxygen in surface of Venus. The professor on the other hand explain that there are helpful chemical compounds in Venus which can help to produce water and oxygen. These chemical materials contain substances which easily could be extracted and make up water and oxygen.
Eventually, the article asserts that there is not enough sunlight over Venus surface because of thick layer of clouds. However, the professor says it’s true that there is thick layer in atmosphere which reflect the sunlight, but still there is reflected rays of light.
