TPO 40 - Integrated Writing Task
In the passage, it is thought to be truth that human presence on Venus would be impossible because of several problems. In contrast, the professor holds a contradictory view that something can be done to solve all the problems which is to build a floating station on Venus.
First of all, it is presented in the passage that there is such great atmosphere on Venus that every spacecraft which tried to land on the Venus has been crashed. Notwithstanding, the professor puts forth that the construction of floating station can make it possible to face less pressure which is at the similar level to the pressure on Earth since there will be less atmosphere pressure when floating above the land. That is to say, living there will be kind of possible.
Secondly, it is proposed that there is not the presence of reservoirs that which is what people need to keep alive. Nevertheless, the professor says that since there are many elements like carbon dioxide, nitrogen and sulfuric acid in the atmosphere of Venus, people can utilize those elements to make what they need like drinkable water and stuff like that. As a result water supply will no longer be listed in problems.
Thirdly, limited sunlight is considered to be one of the obstacles that prevent people from living there for the atmosphere is very thick on Venus. Whereas, the professor comes up with plausible aspects that when high up in the sky at 50 kilometers, the atmosphere is indeed not that thick and the gaining sunlight is possible there. Plus, people can also receive the reflection of the sunlight. In a word, it is possible to receive the sunlight both above and beneath. Consequently, there is no need to worry about the problem of the lack of sunlight.
