Both the reading material and the listening talk about the possibility of existence’s life on the Venus. The reading brings three reasons to refute this possibility due to the extreme and inhospitable situation. However, the professor in the listening disagrees with those reasons which are discussed in the reading and he refutes all of them.
Firstly, the reading passage believes that the atmospheric pressure at Venus’s surface is very higher than at Earth’s. Therefore, everything which lands on the Venus such as spacecraft and other stuff will be crushed. On the other hand, the professor rejects this reason. He says that by establishing a station above Venus’s surface, all problems would resolve. In the fifty high above Venus’s surface, the atmospheric pressure is equal to the Earth’s. Hence, nothing would crush in this circumstances.
Secondly, the reading material states that on Venus’s surface, there is no water, Oxygen and water vapor due to the existing high amount of Carbon dioxide and other chemical materials. Also, bringing water from Earth to Venus would not be practical and permanent. However, the professor refutes this reason. He says that people can make water from Carbon dioxide and other chemical materials. Therefore, there is no need to bring water from Earth to Venus.
Finally, the reading passage says that because of existing the thick cloud around the Venus which is a dense layer of Carbon dioxide below it, less sunlight reaches to the surface. Hence, people can not use the dollar cells for creating electricity. In contrast, the professor has a different sight. He believes that this cloud is not very thick. Actually, the cloud reflects some of the sunlight and filters the others. Therefore, people can use solar cells above and below the cloud for absorbing sunlight and getting electricity to power their machines.
