TPO-43 - Integrated Writing Task Agnostids were a group of marine animals that became extinct about 450 million years ago. Agnostid fossils can be found in rocks in many areas around the world. From the fossil remains, we know that agnostids were primitiv

The article is about how the Agnostid ate and lived, and provides three possible theories. However, the professor believes that these theories are not authentic and refutes each of the author's claims.

First, the reading claims that Agnostids were free-swimming predators like other primitive arthropods. This point is challenged by the professor. She argues that those arthropods has a large eyes that could track the prays, however, the agnostics were almost blind. She also mentions that in order to be a predator they must have an alternative sensory organ to track the preys, but they don't.

Second, the author posits that Agnostids might be seafloor dwellers as some of their primitive ancestors was. The professor rebuts this point by mentioning that seafloor dwellers can't move fast and go far distances, so they live in small geographic area. On the other hand, the fossil information shows that they inhabited in large distances, so they had the ability of moving fast, which is something unusual for seafloor dwellers.

Finally, the author states that Agnostids were parasites, as there lots of modern-day arthropods that lives like this. The professor casts doubt this one by saying that, parasites population shouldn't be large, because would kill the host organizations. The information from fossils indicates that Agnostid's population was too large to consider them as parasites.

In conclusion, the professor effectively refutes each of the author's claims and theories.
